Jobs that may be Available to you Locally
When most people think of looking for a job, particularly people who live in large cities, their first thought is that it’s going to require at least some travel or commuting. Often, that is true, but there are lots of quality jobs that are always available in one’s own neighborhood.
Consider the possibilities. Unless you live in an extremely rural area, there is likely to be a hospital within a short distance of your home … a large mall … smaller strip malls … in-town stores that face the street … all kinds of retail businesses that require the services of paid employees.
If you’re a mom whose kids are getting older and becoming more self-reliant, you’ll find that you can re-enter the local job market … even if you haven’t worked for years. The same is true for stay-at-home dads or for men who’ve recently been laid off and need work, any work.
College kids and older high school kids will find that it’s not that difficult to find local employment. The jobs are out there – and available immediately – if you know how to find them. Importantly, you don’t have to drive around town looking for “Help Wanted” signs. You don’t have to march through the local mall asking employers if they need help. You don’t have to wait for the Sunday newspaper to review the weekly Help Wanted Classified Ads. You don’t have to do any of that.
All you need do is sit down at your desk at home and access the Internet on your desktop pc. You’ll find a wealth of readily available information about local jobs for companies – generally very good companies – that are hiring people like you now.
What kind of employers generally hire in the area where you live? The answer to that is this: every kind of employer you can imagine. Perhaps your local hospital needs someone to work in the Gift Shop or the cafeteria. Jobs at the mall are almost always available. Stores are always seeking sales help … stock help … cashiers … and much more. The local multiplex often needs workers, too. And, there are likely scores of restaurants in your area that frequently hire wait staff.
The point is this: there are always lots of jobs available that are surprisingly close to where you live. They may pay a bit less than jobs that require commuting. But, the cost of going to and from work is almost negligible. You can afford to work for a slightly smaller salary.
So if you’re looking for a job, keep it local. There’s a lot that you can do … and still get home in time for lunch and dinner. Best of all, you’ll be able to afford dinner – and lunch – because of the significant amount of money you will save by eliminating the need for a long commute to and from your job.
That’s worth something. Start your job hunt – your local search – today. Do it right now.
